Pre-press includes everything from the moment we receive a job to the time a client signs off the proof before it goes to print. It includes receiving the data, plate-making, creating proofs and any last minute alterations. We also offer scanning services.
Receiving your data
Increasingly, clients send their data to us electronically – either by email at prepress@format.co.nz or by using our FTP server, which is available on request. Once a job arrives, it's entered into our automated digital workflow system, Trueflow.
We can handle the latest in all software packages. We have systems that provide the highest data security, and we archive all data to DVD.
Plate-making with amazing definition
Our plate setter, PlateRite 8000 MK II, is driven by Trueflow. It offers superior dot rendition, registration and defect-free plates – making the process faster and the print quality even better. In addition it supports Spekta, a hybrid screening technology that dramatically increases print quality. Spekta reproduces fine detail with unmatched precision and eliminates those problem effects such as moiré, broken lines and jagged edges.
Proofs as close to the real thing as possible
We do a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure our proofs match, as closely as possible, the final product. Our knowledge of the stocks, colours and coatings plays a vital part in providing clients with exact proofs.
Clients have a choice of double-sided or single-sided digital proofs.
Double-sided proofs
- Can be produced in a book format
- Easier for clients to spot any issues with pagination and continuity
- Available on matt stock
Single-sided proofs
- Give the highest possible accuracy in colour matching
- Available in a range of matt and semi-gloss stocks
We also provide PDF proofs if required.
Making alterations
Our Trueflow technology allows clients to make last minute changes and corrections without us having to recreate the entire file – so the chances of error associated with last minute tweaks are eliminated.
Scanning
We can scan images with a maximum original size of 610mm x 560mm. Thanks to our Dai-Nippon Screen SG7171 drum scanner, our scans are provided at a very high resolution.
